Nigeria President, President Muhammadu Buhari, approved the release of N15 billion to the Lagos State government and NCDC to tackle the spread of coronavirus Disease Control (Covid-19) in the country.
On Thursday, the President elaborates that the approval followed the received extensive briefings recently on the state of the country, relating the Covid-19 pandemics in the nation.
President Muhammadu Buhari ordered that the N10 billion grant released immediately to Lagos State and NCDC to help boost the government’s capacity to control the outbreak also to support other states with capacity-building.
The remaining N5 billion will be paid as a special intervention fund to the NCDC to provide and equip personnel to its various facilities and laboratories across the nation.
He also said that the Nigerian Air Force was already preparing for the residential Task Force on Covid-19, to avoid more spread.
President Buhari said that the closure of the nation’s international airports and land borders for four weeks was to ensure that appropriate policy and to reduce suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
