The government of Cross River State has issued a statement that any church that has more than five members in it on Sunday will be sealed off.
Fr. Bob B. Etta, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade on Religious matters, made this known and said a task force has been set that will go around monitoring and making sure there is adequate compliance on Sunday.
While issuing the statement in Calabar, the state capital, he said, “A Taskforce will be going around the State to monitor compliance. Any church caught will be sealed.”
He further stated, “All Religious gatherings with more than five persons are suspended in Cross River State. As Religious leaders, it is our responsibility to protect the lives of our followers. Let’s demonstrate that commitment this Sunday,” he stated.
He stated that the people inside it and not the building. He advised that even if the church is shut, our hearts are with God. He encouraged families to hold devotions in their houses and seek the face of God to take away this impending doom from us.
He concluded by saying, “As a People of Faith, let’s storm the Heavens with our Prayers. May God hear us, amen,” he concluded.
