Nigerian President (Muhammadu Buhari) on Monday, signed the COVID-19 Regulations, 2020, which declared Coronavirus a dangerous infectious disease.
According to Femi Adesina, the SA to the President is in line with the exercising of the powers conferred on Buhari by Sections II,III, and IV of the Quarantine Act (CAP Q2 LFN 2004), and all other powers and authority enabling him to achieve that.
The President spokesman statement on Monday, he noted that the regulations, became effective on 30th March, 2020, also gave legal backups to the various measures/rules outlined in the President’s National Broadcast on 29th March, 2020, which are Restriction/Cessation of Movement in Lagos, FCT and Ogun State and other states toward containing the spread of the pandemic in our country Nigeria.
The president also stated in his speech that Nigerians can still perform online transactions/sales and using of ATMs machines as we observe these restricted the exemption of grant in the financial system and money markets to allow very skeletal operations in order to keep the system in light operations during the pendency of these regulations.
