The administrators of the Federal Capital Territory have decided to increase the daily hazard allowance given to medical doctors.
The allowance was said to be raised to ₦50,000 due to their involvement in the fight against COVID-19.
The Minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, in a news conference, said the administration would intensify its effort to make sure all the residents of the FCT comply with the sit-at-home order.
He also noted that security agents, including soldiers, have been drafted out to be sure nobody from neighboring states sneaks into Abuja.
While responding to questions from journalists, he explained that 600 additional beds had been provided to add to the existing one in the isolation center.
“More coronavirus patients who have tested positive recently will be discharged as soon as their final result is out.” He said.
The Acting Health Secretary, Dr. Kawu Mohammed, in his remarks, said the daily allowance of health workers has been reviewed and increased by 1000%.
He said medical doctors will get ₦50,000, pharmacists and nurses will get ₦30,000 while drivers and cleaners will get ₦20,000, respectively.
