FG Will not Stop Feeding Programme Despite COVID-19- Sadiya Farouq

The Federal Government will continue the feeding program despite the closure of schools and total shut down, to avoid malnutrition in children

Minster Sadiya Farouq of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, has in her speech responded to question at the national briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja on Tuesday

In her speech, she stated how free food would be distributed to children in 3 million households. It will be implemented soon.

The President has directed that the home Grown school feeding program should continue without the objectives of the scheme being compromised.

The minister stated that they had finalized the modalities to distribute the food vouchers for up to three million households and now to wait for the President’s approval.

She also added that the FG has secured support “the World Food and has adopted door-to-door c=voucher distribution.”

The school feeding programmes was formally introduced in the year 2016 as part of the Social Investment Programme of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

This program is aimed at supporting the state to feed over 24 million school children collectively.
