The planet is a relatively large natural body that revolves in Orbit around the sun and around some stars and it is not radiating energy from internal nuclear fusion reactions.

Astronomers have uncovered a potentially habitable Earth-sized exoplanet 300 light-years away from us.

Between 2009 and 2018, NASA has discovered 2681 exoplanets, but this one is the most similar in size, and potentially temperature, to our planet, according to a new study.

What is an exoplanet?

An exoplanet or extrasolar planets is a planet found outside the solar system. This planet orbit the stars outside our solar system.

The planet, which is being referred to as Kepler-1649c, is 1.06 times larger than Earth and receives about 75% the amount of light that Earth gets from the sun. This invariably suggests that its surface temperature is similar to Earth.

The planet is located in a habitable zone of its star and is in a perfect distance where liquid water exists on the surface.

“This intriguing, distant world gives us even greater hope that a second Earth lies among the stars, waiting to be found,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington.
