There have been rumors all over the media that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has decided to hand over the affairs to someone else.

The allegation has it that his anointed candidate is Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel.

Pastor Adeboye has decided to clear the air on the alleged handover.

Speaking during the minsters conference of the church that was held on Saturday at the Redemption Camp, Mowe, Ogun state, he stated that God hadn’t told him his successor.

He said, “Elijah knew Elisha would succeed him even before Elisha knew. Moses also knew that Joshua would succeed him even before Joshua knew. Eli also knew that Samuel would succeed him before Samuel found out. So, anybody who will succeed me, God will tell me first and not the other way round.

“So those of spreading rumor that God has chosen them or God showed the person to desist from such act as God hasn’t shown him.

“Some said I would hand over to Pastor Joe Olaiya. Some said it is Bishop David Oyedepo. Because they are close to me, and I allow them to minister during the Holy Ghost Congress and Conventions. Some even said it’s my son I will hand over to.

“But let me advise you, focus on what you are doing than spreading a false rumor. Also, check the source of your information before spreading it.

“Let me make it loud and clear; God has not told me who my successor is.

“The only thing God told me is that He will show me, my successor, at least five years before He takes me home. So since he hasn’t shown me, it simply means He’s not calling me home in the next five years.”

He concluded by saying, “Whoever will become my successor would have to pray more than I do. He will also have to sacrifice a lot.

“Because I know how many hours in a day that I pray. I can also count how many days in a year that I eat.

“So my successor will have to surpass me, but the mercy of God will be made available for the person.
