Final Decision On Total Lock-down In All The States On Monday – See Details

ALL Nigerian Governors under their forum Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has asked President Buhari to Scale down total lockdown imposed in Ogun, Abuja, and Lagos.

It was contained in the letter issued and signed by NGF chairman, (Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State) on April 24, 2020.

The said letter was addressed to the secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman on Presidential Task Force on COVID – 19, Boss Mustapha.

The Governors advised President Buhari to allow free movement in all the state, but rather restrict many gatherings of people.

Other things that the governors added into the president’s impending pronouncement on the lockdown on Monday are “Inter-state lockdown, excluding movement of essential supplies- food, beverages, medical and pharmaceutical, petroleum supplies and agricultural products; internal free movement but with restrictions on large gatherings and assemblies; overnight curfews; lockdown of flights; and compulsory use of face masks/coverings in public.” 

According to Fayemi, “the said NGF’s position was to follow up a teleconference meeting with the vice president, Yemi Osibanjo, on April 22, 2020.

NCDC has recorded 1095 confirmed cases of COVID – 19 in the country, with 208 discharge and 32 deaths.

Buhari is expected to make a new announcement on Monday, April 27, when the second 14-day lockdown elapses.
