COVID-19: Two Popular Pastors And Three Imam Jailed For Holding Service In Abuja

Abuja Mobile Court has recently sentenced three imams and two pastors to one-month imprisonment each or an option of Five thousand Naira only (N5000) fine for violating the lockdown order in the capital city of Abuja.

They were arrested by the FCT COVID – 19 Task Force and convicted for violating the rules and holding service in their religious establishments despite the lockdown order in Abuja.

The names of the convicted include Reverend Moses Chinedu of Mercy City Gospel Center, Aco Estate, Lugbe Abuja and Pastor Olumbori of the Celestial Church of Christ, Lugbe, Abuja, Imam Suleiman Idris, Mobi close, Area 11, Garki, Imam Abdullahi Mohammed in Gwarimpa Estate, and Deputy Imam Useni Umar, in Mobi close, Area 11, Garki, Abuja.

Magistrate Idayat Akonni, who presided the case, handed down the sentence on Sunday at the Mobile Court in Eagle Square Abuja.

The COVID -19 Chairman FCT enforcement task force, Ikharo Attah, told the Newsmen that those convicted should be concerned because they are now ex-convicts having been found guilty and sentenced by a competent court of law.
