The former presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore, has taken to his twitter account yesterday @Yelesowore, to make a demand to the Federal Government, saying that they should return the One Billion Naira which was donated by access bank, as a recent reduction of their staffers saying that the donation was not made in good faith.
Recall that the said Bank sometimes in March, announced that they were donating the sum of One Billion Naira to the Federal Government to assist in fighting the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Country.
However, immediately after two weeks of fulfilling the pledge, Mr. Herbert Wigwe, the Group managing director, announced that there would be retrenching of 75% of their workers as a result of the economic crisis arising from the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Just in a few weeks now, about three hundred and forty (340) access Bank worker were allegedly reported to have relieved of their duties, resulting in a nationwide controversy as to why the Bank donated the sum of One Billion Naira to the federal government a few weeks ago, only to let go of their loyal workers.
Reacting to this development, human rights activist and the founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore has demanded that the Federal Government should have mercy and immediately return the N1 billion Naira donated to them by Access Bank to enable them to pay their workers, adding that this recent retrenchment points to the possibility that the donation was not made out of kindness:
