The Federal Republic of Nigeria has finally explained why the government is not giving funds for states to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr. Femi Adesina, the special adviser to President Buhari on Media and publicity, spoke on a programme accused some Governors of prioritizing the quest for money over the need to overcome the sickness in the state.
He further revealed why the federal government provided funds to the Lagos state government to fight the outbreak of the disease in the state.
In his speech reads:
“The Federal Government-assisted Lagos State with N10 billion for its commitment and only because it was satisfied that the government of Lagos started on the right footing, rolling out proper plans and mobilizing its fund to fight the pandemic.
“Lagos State was only scouting for technical, human resources and facility supports, not financial support.
“The Buhari government felt obliged to lend a financial hand not because it was asked to, but because it was convinced it should.”
