The minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, in a recent interview said the people of the South-East should not demand the presidency in 2023.

While granting an interview in The Sun, Amaechi said the Igbo’s does not have anything to use as a negotiating factor for the post.

He also noted that the APC got fewer votes from the region and it merely means they voted against the ruling party.

“Now, I don’t know what they will do for voting against APC. They can’t come to the table to demand to be given the presidential slot.” He said.

“For some of us in APC, if the Igbo’s have supported and voted for Buhari, they will be bold to tell the National Chairman of the party and Buhari that the presidency slot should go to the South-East because the South-South, South-West and North-West have taken their turn.

“But right now, what will be their argument to make anyone believe they deserve the 2023 presidential slot?

The minister noted that the Igbo’s had been taken out of national politics, and this will be detrimental to their children.
