The Delta State Peace Movement (DSPM) wishes to use this medium to deeply appreciate our leader and father, Honorable Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, who for an exemplary show of excellent representation and good will towards his people, took the issue of the sacked support/causal staffs of Warri Refinery/NNPC to the green Chamber. We so much appreciate his efforts and support for the unjustly sacked workers.

The Movement also appreciates the efforts of Honorable Barr. Ben Igbakpa for standing up for his people in a time like this. DSPM also appreciates the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila and all Members of the green chamber for standing up to their responsibility in defence of the right of the citizens.
We however hope and trust that the House of Representatives comprising of distinguished honourables duly elected by these citizens will lower their guard, but see this burning issue through by ensuring that the managements of NNPC/WRPC carry out it’s directives to reinstate the sacked workers and all pending matters resolved.

We are also calling on the distinguished Senator (Chief) Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy Senate President as well as Senator James Manager, who also represent these sacked workers to put their offices to good use on this issue and speak out in their various capacities. History will not judge them well if they fail to stand up for these workers who were unjustly sack by NNPC because they simply asked the NNPC/WRPC management to regularize their work status. DSPM strongly enjoins these two great leaders to lend their voices in other to ensure that the sacked workers are reinstated and have their employments regularised by NNPC/WRPC.
DSPM also notes that the two (2) weeks ultimatum given to NNPC/WRPC to reinstate and convert these workers expired on Friday 22nd May 2020. We have reached out to all sons and daughters of the state at home and abroad. We emphasise that the necessary resources, support and willingness to fully engage the NNPC/WRPC on the 7000 protest march on all NNPC facilities in Delta State is ready. We hereby put the Presidency and as well as the IG of police and all relevant law enforcement agencies on notice, that the Management of NNPC/WRPC should be held accountable for any break down of law and order in Delta State at this point in time.

NNPC management will not disrespect our Traditional thrones, disregard the royal fathers and also trample on the leadership of the National Assembly and believe they can enjoy the peace from our state. Let it be known to them that from henceforth, DSPM see the management of Warri refinery as a threat to the Peace of the state, and as such they are an enemy of the state and the people of the state. NNPC should be ready for a full blown reaction from DSPM and other groups in Delta State.
