The Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Abdulkarim Asuku, has said during his statement on a Radio Programme that Jesus was a Muslim, Anyone who is worshiping God in Ebira land knows that all we have talked about now is Islam.

In a Kogi state Radio Programme, 93.5 FM was meant to educate and calm frayed nerves on leadership issues over the Chief Imam of Ebiraland, Asuku’s comments widened the gulf of religious intolerance in the Confluence State.

Sheik Musa Galadima was the former Chief Imam, but unfortunately, he passed on last year.

The Chief of Staff, Asuku condemned the rift between members of the Izala and the Tijanniyah sects and derogatively accused them of behaving like “modern-day Christians who have neglected the teachings of Jesus Christ, a Muslim, and gone after Barnabas and Paul who coined the concept of Christianity.”

HE SAID: “Understandably, the comments have not gone down well with many people in the area who accused the governor’s side of trying to stoke an inter-religious crisis having failed to resolve the crisis regarding who becomes the Chief Imam of the Okene Central Mosque.

Many Christians have accused Asuku of religious bigotry and demanded an apology over “his embarrassing remarks about Christianity.”
