All state Governors across the nation have declared a state of emergency on sexual and gender-based violence against children and women in the country following the high rate of rape in the society.
In a statement signed by Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, said “Declare a state of emergency on any related gender-based and sexual violence.

All the state Governor bitterly condemned the act of violence against children and women and ensures that anyone caught in the evil act will face the maximum weight of the law.
“Call on state governor that have not already domesticated relevant gender-based protection laws to domesticate the Violence Against Person (Prohibition) Act, the Child Rights Act, and the updated Panel Code to increase protection for children and women and also ensure speedy investigation and prosecution of offenders of sex register in each state to name and shame.
