Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s Vice President, has apologized to all Nigerians and admitted that the Federal Government has faulted for not moving faster in addressing Nigerians’ demands calling for a total ban of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS unit of the police.

On Friday night, Prof. Isinbajo, in a series of tweets, said he knows many Nigerians are angry and that their anger was justified.

Prof, Osibanjo said he understands the feeling of much Nigerian Youth in the country, noting that many feel that the federal government has been too silent and has not done enough, adding that they are justified and frustrated.

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo also noted that far too many people had been brutalized by the said SARS police officers, saying that this is unacceptable.

He further stated that it was the federal government’s responsibility to protect youths, even from those who are paid to protect them.

The Vice President noted that the nationwide protests go beyond agitations about SARS, adding that the government has undertaken comprehensive measures to revamp the police by addressing welfare, service conditions, and training issues. DAILY POST
