Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army’s press statement defending itself concerning the Lekki toll gate shooting in Lagos State.

Fani-Kayode said the Nigerian Army denial of the case has gravely implicated the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

The former minister in a tweet said Sanwo-Olu had been thrown under the bus by the Army.

He wrote: “The @HQNigerianArmy claim it was the LASG that asked for soldiers to be deployed at Lekki. The implications of this for @jidesanwoolu are grave. He has been thrown under the bus by the military.”

Recall, the 81 division of the Nigerian Army claimed they were invited by Sanwo-Olu to intervene in the End SARS crisis.

However, the Division in a statement claimed that its soldiers did not shoot at any of the peaceful protesters.

The Division said the report making rounds that its soldiers shot at the protesters was false, noting it is only aimed at causing anarchy.
