2 lawmakers from Orlu zone, 1 from Owerri zone and 1 from Okigwe have shown interest to defect to PDP by next week.
The lawmakers’ decision is unconnected with what is presumed as Gov.Hope Uzodinma’s insensitivity to Imo APC matters. Hope Uzodinma is said to be more interested in what gets to his Camp Hope team than the Unity of APC in the State.
One of the lawmakers who spoke bitterly said
” There are 3 arms of Government in the State that must work in synergy for the State to progress. A situation whereby the Executive uses the minutest few lawmakers to promote autocracy in disguise against the rule of law just because others are not part of a certain Political Camp during the last election is awkward especially now that almost all the lawmakers are of the Same Political Party with the Executive Members in the State.
Not having a united Imo APC after 10months now is shameful.
The Local Government system is not working because of the shared abnormalities which ordinarily is expected of the Leadership of the Party in the State to call to normalcy by calling all those involved to a consensus, and not court litigations, protests and counter-protests here and there.
I better leave now before I am consumed by foreseen outbursts”, the lawmaker disclosed.
Just of recent, the duly elected local government chairmen, vice-chairmen and councillors of 2018 that are unarguable of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who were suspended by the state Governor gave notice of resumption of duties in the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo state. This act has been described as many as a step in the right direction owing to the fact that the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria bars the state government from suspending, removing or sacking of Elected Local government chairmen, vice-chairmen or councillors.
The question now is, Can Hope Uzodinma think out of the box, sheath his ego to return normalcy within the Imo APC and become the hero?
