A former Nigerian lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has lamented the unfolding events in the United States 2020 election.
The United States 2020 presidential election was a tight battle between the incumbent President, Donald Trump the Republican and Joe Biden, candidate of the Democratic Party.
The President-elect, Joe Biden, however, emerged as the winner after polling over 270 Electoral College votes although the one who cam3e out victorious has not been officially announced.
However, the General Services Administration (GSA), has since failed to recognise Joe Biden as the President-elect.
Although Joe Biden has since assumed his role as the President-elect, preparing to take over White House, while the incumbent, President Trump has refused to concede defeat.
President Trump has filed a flurry of court cases challenging Joe Biden’s victory in the election which Trump alleged was marred by massive irregularities, fraud and corruption.
The incumbent President, Trump has recently expressed hope of being declared the winner of the 2020 election, saying US results that would be announced next week would put him ahead of Joe Biden.
Shehu Sani, in a tweet on Sunday, pointed out that Donald Trump’s body language is already sending a very wrong signal to tyrants in other parts of the Worldand also in Africa.
“America has always been an exemplar for democracy and freedom,” he tweeted.
“The behaviour of its leader not just threaten the moral standard of that country but gives tyrants in Africa and other parts of the World a justification to suffocate democracy. The events in America is of concern to us,” he added.
