The Special Assistant to President Buhari on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, has slammed the foreign news media (CNN) over its investigative report on the #Lekki shooting.
On Thursday, the aide stated that foreign news media lied to the international community, adding that the Nigerian government will not be intimidated.
“I’m not upset that CNN lied to the world about my nation, Nigeria. I’m upset that they think we are so stupid that we will swallow their lies. We won’t be bullied into believing a lie!” Lauretta tweeted.
According to Cable News Network, CNN, an American-based television channel, said that despite the Nigerian government and the Nigerian soldiers’ denial, its findings show that live bullets were used against peaceful #End SARS protesters.
Recall that on October 20, Nigerian soldiers marched to the Lekki toll gate at about 6:45 pm and opened fire on the #EndSARS protesters.
After the FG’s initial report and claims that Military men were not deployed to the location, the Army said only blank bullets were fired.
The Commander 81 Division, Brigadier General, Ahmed Ibrahim Taiwo, told the Lagos Judicial Panel that the soldiers were called in by the state Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Ahmed Ibrahim Taiwo also noted that the Military men responded “to forestall further violence” and loss of lives.”
