Report has it that all state Governors elected under the platform of All Progressive Congress, APC met with former president of Nigerian Goodluck Jonathan, in FCT, Abuja.
Purpose of the meeting was to hear his opinion ahead of 2023 presidential general election.
Recall that Goodluck Jonathan was elected as Nigerian President in the year 2011 and he lost to the Incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
Meanwhile, there is rumour that he (Jonathan) is still qualified to run having only spent one term of four years in office.
An Abuja based lawyer, Ilemona Onoja, does not accept or believed that
The barrister believes the constitution does not support Goodluck Jonathan as president.
She recalled that in 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari signed into law a bill that limits a Vice-president or deputy governor of a state to complete his terms of their principals, to seeking reelection only one more time.
Onoja feels that even if the constitution has to be amended for the sole purpose, “it’s not a small matter. They need 24 states. They don’t have it.”
“they are visiting GEJ to enable them to penetrate the Niger Delta.”he added
Onoja a former spokesperson of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Campaign Organization (ABSCO), also feels that even Jonathan himself will not agree to run under APC.
“It won’t even work. I don’t even think he himself will agree.
“Far too many major political players suddenly get their aspirations terminated, even within the APC,” he added.
