The Police have confirmed the abduction of Bashir Mohammed, a Taraba lawmaker.
Bashir Mohammed represents Nguroje Constituency in the House of Assembly.
He is one of the Minority Leader and was kidnapped on Wednesday morning from his house in Jalingo.
DSP David Misal, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, told reporters that the captive was seized after sporadic gunshots.
Mohammed‘s house is located next to the Comprehensive Secondary School, Jalingo.
DSP David Misal confirmed that the Police and other security agencies were making efforts to rescue him.
The kidnappers are yet to make any contact with the Mohammed family.
Bashir is the second Assemblymember kidnapped in recent years.
In December 2017, Hosea Ibi, Takum I Constituency representative, was snatched and murdered.
