Former Vice-President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has called for a step-up of security around the schools in the country’s vulnerable areas.

Atiku stated this while reacting to the release of the students of GSSS Kankara, numbering 333.

Reacting to the news, Atiku took to his Twitter handle to congratulate everyone who made efforts to secure the students’ release from their abductors.

Atiku tweeted: “I am happy about reports that abducted schoolboys of GSSS Kankara, Katsina State have been rescued.

“As a father, I know how much joy it will bring to the traumatized parents who have practically kept vigil in the school premises.

“I congratulate all those who were involved in the rescue operation.

“Security must be stepped up around schools in the vulnerable areas in the insurgency prone region.”
