The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, Garba Shehu, has apologized to Nigerians over his claims that only 10 students were abducted at the Government Science Secondary School Kankara, Kastina State.

Garba Shehu had said only 10students were abducted in the school.

His claim was different from what the State Governor, Bello Masari, earlier said.

Masari noted that about 333 students were abducted from GSSS in the state.

Shehu apologized for the wrong numbering stating he was misled by those who should “ideally know the number.”

In a statement he signed, the presidential spokesman said: “I apologize for the incorrect communication citing that only 10 students were kidnapped at the science school, Kankara.

“This communication of numbers was provided by persons that should ideally know. These numbers were seen to conflict with what was available at that time.

“Please understand that this communication was in no way done to downplay the seriousness of the situation.

“Please accept my sincere apologies on this matter as we continue to move our great Nation Nigeria forward. Thank you.”
