Frank Lampard, Chelsea boss, has identified midfielder Mateo Kovacic, as the player who ‘helped’ his team in a 3-0 defeat against West Ham United at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard stated that Kovacic helped Chelsea to hold the ball throughout the game against West Ham.

Chelsea defeated West Ham with two goals from Tammy Abraham and a striking goal from Thiago Silva.

“We started really well, but in the second half for periods, we didn’t have as much of the ball, and getting Mateo Kovacic on helped us because he got us on the ball to help us through that final period,” Lampard was quoted by Chelsea’s official website as saying after the game.

“It wasn’t vintage from us, but we were good in parts. The best part for me was the character the lads shown, having come into the game off the back of two defeats.”

Chelsea’s next game will be on Saturday against Arsenal.
