The former minister of education, Oby Ezekwesili, has reacted to the clash between operatives of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, and the Nigeria soldiers in the Orlu area of Imo State.
Oby Ezekwesili queried the deployment of a battalion of Nigerian soldiers against Eastern Security Network operatives in Orlu.
A clash between Eastern Security Network and the Nigerian soldiers had allegedly led to the death of one person, while scores were wounded.
The clash was said to have occurred during a military operation in the community suspected to be the operational base of the Eastern Security Network.
The Eastern Security Network is a regional security outfit recently launched by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Reacting to the development, Oby Ezekwesili demanded that the Nigeria Leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, and the Nigerian Army give a reason for Army’s presence in the town.
Ezekwesili’s tweet read: “Can the @HQNigerianArmy please communicate what’s going on here in Orlu Town to the public?
“It certainly has the appearance of a war scene. Is an entire town under combat operation from our Military?
“Can the C-in-C let Nigerians know who ordered this operation?”
