The Minister of Transportation and former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has remained reluctant about revealing his ambition of becoming the next president of Nigeria.

Speaking during a Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, Amaechi said only God knows the next leader of the country.

The former Rivers governor said his priority is to focus on his job as a minister under the Buhari administration and wouldn’t want to be distracted.

“I am still the Minister for Transportation and only God can tell who will be the President of Nigeria in 2023,” he said.

Amaechi earlier stated that the federal government will spend $1.9bn on the Kano-Maradi (Niger Republic) rail project.

“The project is going to cost us $1.9bn and we will source it from mostly Europe. We are about concluding it,” Amaechi said.

When Amaechi was asked how long it will take Nigeria to repay the loan for the rail project, he claimed the answer is not within the jurisdiction of his ministry.
