The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire has disclosed that the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine has some mild side effect.
Ehanire explained that anyone that has been vaccinated is likely to experience “small pain” in the area it was injected.
He made this disclosure after President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo were vaccinated at the State House.
Ehanire, however, said the COVID-19 vaccine to be administered should be painless.
He said: “The process itself is simple. We are using a narraw gage syringe, which will be very painless and it is a small quantity that is injected into the muscle of your upper arm.
“The after effects, as we know so far, are mild. There can be a small pain in the area where it was injected.”
Meanwhile, President Buhari after receiving the vaccine, urged all Nigerians to do the same.
He assured Nigerians that the COVID-19 vaccine was safe.
President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo took the COVID-19 vaccine in the presence of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, top government officials and journalists.
The president was vaccinated by his Personal Physician, Dr Sanusi Raafindadi while that of the vice president was done by Dr Nicholas Audifferen, his Personal Physician.
