The Bayelsa State government has declared plans to re-launch its speedy response security outfit, “Operation Doo Akpo”.
Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo revealed this to traditional rulers from Yenagoa Local Government Area at a gathering at the Government House.
He encouraged the rulers to assume responsibility for security in their areas and guaranteed individuals of a more secure environment.
Ewhrudjakpo said Operation Doo Akpo would be better equipped and draw its personnel from all uniformed security agencies in the state.
”It will be back to its usual capacity of responding to distress calls promptly as they are currently being equipped.”
On sea security, Ewhrudjakpo revealed that the leader will work with the House of Assembly to get a law on maritime curfew.
“No speed boat will move at 7 pm, except on special duty. We will then activate the Marine Police”, he added.
He further clarified that young people in the communities would likewise be associated with the security course of action with the coordinated effort of Traditional rulers and the local area improvement councils to keep lawbreakers from invading towns to execute a wrongdoing.
