The unknown gunmen have killed five soldiers and destroyed their vehicles during a trap in Ihiala, Anambra State.
The attack happened last Friday at one of the few security checking points on the Owerri–Onitsha Road in Anambra State.
Security officers shut the Onitsha bridgehead Wednesday, stopping vehicular movement on the course because of the soldier’s death.
At the boundary between Anambra and Enugu, security officials stopped vehicles from Enugu State for a search.
Ikenga Tochukwu, a representative for the State Police Command, recognized the attack yet didn’t reveal the numbers who were killed.
He said the leaders were still investigating the matter and that the public will be educated when the time comes.
