Infoxclusive.com.ng gathered that the Federal government of Nigeria has said Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media giants must register in the country.

This decision was made public by Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information, on Wednesday while speaking to State House Correspondents.

The Minister claimed that Twitter, which was recently banned by the Nigerian government, has reached out to him for a “high-level” discussion.

Lai Mohammed insisted that the Microblogging site was suspended because it provided a platform for people threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria.

He claimed that the CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, allowed the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to use the medium to call for the killing of Nigerian security operatives, and also helped to fund last year’s #EndSARS protest that almost destroy Buhari’s governmnet.

The Minister then said that one of the conditions that must be met before the federal government lifts the ban on Twitter, is that the social media company must be registered in Nigeria as a business concern.

Other social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram must also be registered in the country, he added.
