The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dismissed the reports of bombing a wedding party in Niger State.
According to report that emerged on Saturday, the NAF Alpha jet bomed a wedding venue in Genu in Niger State, killing and injuring some guests.
The NAF Director Public Relations and Information, Edward Gabkwet, while reaction to the report on Sunday said the report is an attempt to discredit its effort.
Edward insisted that the authors of the report were out to blackmail the military, saying they would have asked themselves why a reasonable person would host a wedding party in the middle of forest.
Edward Gabkwet’s statement read in part, “If indeed, a wedding party was hit, the question that should have been asked is, ‘Why a wedding party would be held in a forested area with a high concentration of banditry activities?”
“It is clear that recent coordinated activities of the NAF, alongside the Nigerian Army and other security agents, are yielding the expected result and obviously, some people are out to discredit these efforts.
“But be rest assured that we will not succumb to any blackmail.
“The NAF shall continue to hit the locations of these criminals until we flush them out of the entire area and peace and security is fully restored.”
