Nigerian government has on Tuesday alerted its citizens to potential food scarcity looming, following the massive destruction of farm produce, properties, and livestock of traders in some parts of the country.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural development, Alhaji Sabo Nanono said the targeted attacks on farmers and traders especially the northerners will only bring serious trouble on the country.
The minister maintained that each region of the country depends on others to survive, insisting that many have failed to realize the importance of coexistence.
Nanono made this statement when he payed visit to the members of the National Onion Producers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria (NOPPMAN) in Abuja, Infoxclusive.com.ng report.
Alhaji Nanono added that the Nigerian constitution allows citizens from different region to travel reside and earn a living in the country without form of hindrances.
The Minister’s technical Adviser on Media, Ahmed Aminu quoted his principle as referencing to a case of an Imo farmer who resides in Kano state and makes an annual turnover of more than N200million.
Nanono said, “I wonder how it would feel if we wake up one day and ask the gentleman, who has spent decades in rural Kano, to pack and go back to Imo State.
