Trouble as farmer clashes with Fulani herder in Kwara state

On Monday, a 16-year-old Fulani herder was machete by one Mr. Kosi Salisu, a 45-year-old Togolese farmer following an altercation.

According to report, the incident happened in banni Community in the Kwara North Senatorial district.

Report also gathered that the victim was grazing beside Salisu’s farm when one of his cow strayed into the farm. He was said to have been trying to retrieve his cow when the Togolese farmer inflicted machete cuts on his forehead and stomach.

According the statement made by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Babawale Zaid Afolabi, in Ilorin on Tuesday, he said “The Fulani herder, Abdullahi, was taken to the hospital for treatment, after which the suspect (Togolese) was invited.

“After interrogation, he admitted to the commission of the offence.

“He claimed that he was also injured by the Fulani herder, Abdullahi the complainant.”

Afolabi further stated that the suspect was released on bail to a reliable surety to enable him treat his injuries while investigation continues.
