Igbo group identified as Biafra Nations League, BNL, has cautioned President Buhari against undermining secessionist groups in the Eastern region with war.
Biafra Nations League said the people of the Inlet of Guinea are wiser now to be used against the secession of Biafra as it was done in 1967.
They made this statement while announcing its expectation to hold a two- day convention to address issues influencing the Biafra struggle.
Linus Asuquo Essien, who is the Head of General Staff of BNL and Head of Displaced Bakassi Peninsula Youths, said this in a statement to newsmen.
The absence of awareness and consultation at the grassroots, especially outside the Igbo speaking areas has become a great concern in the area.
The group said that most people are still unaware of the reasons why they are fighting for the formation of the Biafra Republic, adding that the convention which will hold before the end of July will provide a solutions as to how they should draw in different areas at the grassroots.
Sabotage of the struggle could be created “especially when people don’r understand the reason why you are doing what you are doing.
“President Buhari was attempting to restrict the struggle to the five Southeast States by describing the agitators as a spot in a circle without access anyplace
“[We] distance ourselves from the President description. Buhari is a joker who lacks the powers to choose where Biafra is and where is not Biafra.
“There was Eastern Consultative Assembly which consulted the people before Biafra was proclaimed. Biafra and Igboland should not be mistaken.
“Igbo land is in Biafra, while Biafra is situated in the Bay of Guinea and can’t be obstructed from accessing anyplace.
“BNL has a strong presence around the Igbo speaking areas in Rivers and Delta State. The people of Bakassi Peninsula are presently all around educated more than different areas being the headquarters of the group.
“The people are backing the struggle because they get attacks from Forces in Cameroon and they don’t feel part of Cameroon.
“With the degree of sufferings in Bakassi today, our people are prepared to give their lives for the Biafra Republic, we can’t keep on confronting torment from an outside country, even the Nigerian government have deserted the Greentree Agreement so for what reason should we not back Biafra to secede when we realize that on the off chance that we succeed, sovereignty over Bakassi would get back to Biafra and whole Efik people”.
