The United Kingdom (UK) administration has announced that its enquiries on the conditions encircling the detention of the IPOB commander Nnamdi Kanu, are proceeding.

Dean Hurlock, the Head of Communications, British High Commission, Abuja, made this feedback to a media announcement that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, rebuffed the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, over Kanu’ s detention.

Hurlock’s acknowledgement also followed disclosure on Friday by Kanu’ s attorney, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, considering how Kanu was apprehended and tormented in Kenya before he was brought to the country.

Ejiofor had announced in a statement: “My client, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was really kidnapped by damnable Kenya’ s Special Police Force on the 18th of June 2021 at their International Airport and thereafter carried to an unknown home under brutalizing situations.

“He was tormented and subjected to all aspects of inhuman method, which deteriorated his health situation. He was criminally confined for eight good days in Kenya before being transmitted to their Nigerian mate.

“He was purportedly examined on a fake charge while in their detention anticipating to be surrendered after their outcomes verified him righteous of all the spurious statements. They later beckoned on their Nigerian mates to take over.

“Kenyan Government was deeply involved in the kidnapping, confinement and ill- treatment of my client before the criminal handover to their Nigerian counterpart. “

Responding to Sunday Sun’ s enquiry, Hurlock said: ” Our enquiries into the situations encircling the detention of Nnamdi Kanu continue. “

Recall that Malami, alongside the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Ahmed, had at a press briefing in Abuja last week, declared how mazi Nnamdi Kanu was intercepted and extradicted to the country to face prosecution.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who also informed journalists in Abuja, said Kanu was tracked for two years by security agencies before he was finally apprehended.

However, both Malami and Mohammed, did not mention the country where the IPOB was apprehended, this situation has continued to create public discussion till Friday.

Following the Ejiofor’ s disclosure, the Kenyan Ministry of Interior and the Kenyan High Commission in Abuja, had refuted the announcement of the involvement of Kenya in the detention and extradition of Kanu.

Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Wilfred Machage, at a press briefing on Friday in Abuja, said that the Government of Kenya was not happy at the outrageous endeavour of dragging the name of Kenya and President Uhuru Kenyatta on the matter.
