The Court of Economic Community Of West African States has fixed Friday, July 9, to consolidate suits against Buhari’s led Government on the suspension of Twitter in the country.

The fixed date was agreed on Tuesday during a meeting that was held using zoom.

Knowing that Buhari’s led Government earlier on June suspended the use of tweeter, saying that the media sounds as a threat to the existence of the country.

It was reported that two major applications was submitted to the court after tweeter owner alleged the FG for going against the rights of Twitter users in Nigeria.

One of the application was submitted by the Registered Trustees of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project against the Federal Government marked ECW/CCJ/APP/23/21.

The other application was brought by the Media Rights Agenda and eight others against the Federal Government on the same issue marked ECW/CCJ/APP/29/21.

A lawyer representing the Federal Government, Abdullahi Abubakar, during the meeting, asked for the leave of the court to consolidate the hearing of the applications.
