Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has promoted Chief of Army Staff, Faruk Yahaya, to the rank of Lieutenant-General.
Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed this in a post via his Facebook account.
According to Adesina, President Buhari promoted Faruk Yahaya during the decoration ceremony of the army chief which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
Report has it that Faruk Yahaya’s decoration comes a week after the House of Representatives confirmed his appointment as COAS.
Before his recent promotion, Faruk Yahaya was a Major-General.
Recall that President Muhammdau Buhari had earlier appointed Faruk Yahaya as the new COAS following the death of Ibrahim Attahiru in a plane crash in Kaduna on May 21, 2021.
Faruk’s appointment was made public on Thursday in a statement by the Defence Headquarters.
