Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has been challenged by the The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) to stop chasing IPOB members and its military ESN around the state, and concentrate on fighting for the marginalized oil producing communities in the state.

The National Coordinator of HURIWA, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and National Media Affairs Director, Miss Zainab Yusuf; and Project Director, Queen Onwughalu while speaking to the press in Abuja on Tuesday continually said that Governor Hope is suppose to fight for the right of people, saying that he has been in politics for quite a long time now.

“When you have a state like Imo … an APC controlled state, I don’t see why Hope Uzodinma should not fight for his people to get what rightly belongs to them,” the group said.

“That doesn’t seem to be his problem. Maybe his problem is chasing ESN and IPOB everywhere. You know, people have different agenda…I’m from Imo State and Hope is from Imo State but everybody has his or her own agenda.

“Let us remind Hope Uzodinma that the oil producing communities in his own state are being marginalised. We are not blaming APC for that.

“APC has just been in power for six years…Hope is also part of the problem because he has been in PDP from day one.

“So if we have to blame anyone, Hope should take it upon himself having been a founding member of the ruling party to ensure this injustice is corrected.”
