General Abdulsalami Abubakar, the former Head of state has on Tuesday appeal to criminal elements in Nigeria to mend their ways and repent for peace, progress and stability of Nigeria.
The former Head of State made this known shortly after observing the two rakaats prayers for Eid-el Kabir which was held at Minna prayer ground.
Abdulsalami also prayed to Allah to touch their heart to denounce the acts of banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and forms of criminal activities in the country.
Abdulsalami also noted that there is need to remain at peace with everyone while congratulating the Muslim ummah and Nigerians as they witnessed this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
The Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello also in his remark called on Nigerians irrespective of ethnic and religion to pray for the security of the country.
His statement reads” Irrespective of our ethnicity, religions, there is a need for us to pray for our security men in the country for the wisdom to overcome all the current security challenges bedevilling our country.”
He further urged the Niger State citizens to provide security agencies with vital information to help Niger state and Nigeria to overcome the current security challenges.
Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu also called on Nigerians to help give in their support and collaborate with Federal Government and security agencies to achieve maximum result in the battle against insecurity and crime in the country.
He urged leaders at all levels to come up with deliberate policies targeted at reducing the current hardship being experienced by Nigerians.
Earlier, the Chief Imam of Minna Central mosque Malam Ibrahim Isa Fari who led the two Eids prayer also proceeded with the slaughtering of his ram which paved way for other Muslim faithful to follow suit.
