Igbo social-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has warned about the continues detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The Igbo organization said that if the leaders fell to take prospective measures to arrest the situation the nest move if violence will overtake the southeast part of the country.
President General, Engr Chidi Ibe, in a statement sent to reporters on Thursday, the Igbo social-cultural organization asked the southeast governors to investigate the peaceful relationship between them and the president to find a way to rectify the issue on ground form peace to rain in the region.
The group further said that the situation in the country does not need shift of blames, rather it needs unity, working together so as to overcome.
According to the Igbo social-cultural organisation, “They must forgive and close ranks, this is not the time for blame, accusations and counter-accusations.
“The previous Nnamdi Kanu’s rantings and insults heaped on South East Governors and Igbo Elders were unbearable but the best way to forgive him is to secure his release.
“As for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, we will continue to talk to his teeming supporters to shun any protest and give the South East Governors and other Igbo leaders the opportunity to negotiate his release with President Buhari”.
Also, Catholic Bishops of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province have alleded President Buhari-led government of selective administration of justice.
The Bishops bitterly said that the development has seriously affected Nigerians in all spheres of life and the country’s image in the international at large.
The bishops, from Ibadan Archdiocese, Ilorin, Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti and Osogbo Dioceses, in a communiqué issued by Rev. Gabriel Abegurin, Chairman, and Rev. Akin Oyejola, Secretary, at the end of their meeting at the Domus Pacis Pastoral Institute, Igoba in Akure, lamented that the current wave of insecurity in the country is an indication that the Federal Government has woefully failed to punish the criminal elements killing Nigerians.\
