Jos Crises: What Lagos governor did will melt your heart


The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has evacuated a 3-week-old baby, the mother and undergraduate students that are of Lagos origin who were studying in the University of Jos (UNIJOS), Plateau State, prior to the recent attacks and killings in the State.

INFOXCLUSIVE learnt that the first set of people that as evacuated comprises of 64 UNIJOS students and the three-week-old-baby, named Daniella, who was reported to have been delivered shortly before the crisis in Plateau State by the mother, Manya Banfe, a 200-Level student, arrived Lagos on Friday afternoon and met the governor before the were handed over to their families.

The students were accompanied by government officials and security agents, arrived at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa with their belongings.

The governor, while receiving the evacuated students said the move by the state government reveals they are capable of responding to any emergency situation especial when it concerns the youth of the State.

The governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, said the government have arranged for welfare packages for the students to return to their families safe and sound.

Speaking on behalf of the UNIJOS students, a 200-level student of the Department of Religion and Philosophy of the institution, Clinton Shotikare, appreciated the government for rescuing them amid fear of attacks in Plateau.

“On behalf of other students, I am saying a big thank you to the Lagos State Government, especially the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu. We appreciate the Governor and the State Government for evacuating us from Plateau State. We feel happy, honoured, grateful and safe. We feel the impact of government,” he said.

  1. Honestly, Sanwo olu has really impressed me with his actions and deeds. He’s seriously taken after Baba Kekere in terms of performance. Imagine how caring he is to Lagosians. To me he deserves second term.
