According to CNN, Department of State Services (DSS) of the Nigerian Federation has claimed that it is its responsibility to suppress any activity that threatens to divide the country.

Following case of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and Sunday Igboho, Yoruba nation activist, the secret police had earlier told CNN in a statement partially published by the medium on Saturday that ” Nigeria is indissoluble and indivisible” and that ” detection and prevention of crimes against the internal security of Nigeria” remains a priority.

Since June 27 Nnamdi Kanu has been in the custody of the DSS after he was addicted and extradited to Nigeria to face his trial in the Federal High Court, Abuja.

His detaintion was ordered by a Federal High Court in Abuja, even though his counsel was not present for the hearing.

His legal counsels and family members were also allowed to see him from time to time, as instructed by the High court.

The federal government is prosecuting him in court on allegations that verge on treason.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’ s legal team leader, paid a visit to his client at the DSS facility on Thursday and expressed hope that the court will release him because he had committed no crime.

He also accused federal government agents of infringing on his client’ s rights when the government invaded his homeland a few years ago.
