The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdulahi Adamu, Tuesday, left the journalists covering the exercises of the party stranded following his eviction order.
Adamu, 75, arose as the national chairman of the party at the national convention that took place on March 26 through consensus.
The removal of journalists at the press centre inside the party secretariat, what began as rumour, was at last affirmed when the party began renovation works at the Media and Publicity office, which is close to the press centre on the ground floor of the Secretariat.
The development constrained the journalists to take asylum under the tree from where they documented their reports.
INFOXCLUSIVE accumulated that the removal of the journalists from the press community may not be detached with the inability of Adamu to move up the stairs to get to his office on the third floor.
Since Adamu began coming to the secretariat, it generally requires around 20 minutes or more to walk up the steps.
His inability to go through the afflictions of climbing the stairs is ascribed to his age
It was assembled that Adamu will change over the Media division of the party and the press centre to his office pending the installation of lift at the party secretariat.
A staff of the party that educated journalists about the development said the party was “rebuilding”, noting that that was the explanation the staff of the media office and the journalists were removed.
“We are remodeling the secretariat, my office is also affected. As I am talking to you, I have no office now,” he said.
“At the moment, the media and publicity department will now be making use of the National Executive Committee (NEC) office, while the remodeling or renovation lasts.”
“They have not provided any alternative for journalists covering the governing party.”
