Abuja-Kaduna train: FG should negotiate and pay ransom to free abducted victims – Sheikh Gumi advises

Renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheik Ahmad Gumi has advised the Federal Government to pay ransom to the fear based terrorists holding the 62 abducted passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna train.

Gumi likewise advised the government to deal with the bandits with alert in view of kidnapped victims in their lair.

“You have the opportunity to deal with them the way they deserve because when they have captives, you have to tread with caution so that their captives will not be injured,” he said

Bandits had on March 28 went after the Kaduna-Abuja train, killed nine passengers and abducted over 62 others.

Few days after, bandits released the Managing-Director of Bank of Agriculturedue to age factor.

The bandits who have released a few recordings of the kidnapped victims, had advised the Federal Government to negotiate with them, however not monetary ransom.

However, Sheik Ahmad Gumi, during the special prayers coordinated for the victims by the Jama’iyyar Matan Arewa (JMA), in Kaduna, advised the Federal Government to pay ransom to the bandits.

According to him, “Just imagine now, people are paying up to N25 billion to buy forms instead of using the money to pay ransom for poor Nigerians who cannot pay.

“Whatever they want, give it to them, so that they release these people and when they release them, then you have the liberty.”
