The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has ordered increased protection in and around Abuja in the midst of fears of terror attacks.

The IGP gave the charge during the Force Management Team meeting at his office while getting general security updates.

Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi conveyed the order in a statement on Tuesday.

Baba ordered an deployment of additional agents and assets within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its environs.

The police guaranteed protection of lives and property of residents, national assets, vulnerable facilities, and roads.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations), DIG Bala Zama Senchi will oversee and manage the deployment.

The Force forewarned Nigerians and the media on the risks of false alarms and misinformation.

Baba reiterated the determination of the police to improve the security design through intelligence gathering, deployments, and state of the art innovation.

Terrorist attacks in Abuja and boundary regions increased since the break of the Kuje prison.

Insurgents trapped Nigerian Army personnel twice, killing a few soldiers, among them individuals from the Presidential Guards Brigade.

Troops additionally thwarted an attempt by terrorists to attack the Nigerian Law School in Bwari.
