Babatunde Gbadamosi, a pillar of the People’ s Democratic Party in Lagos State, joined the Labour Party on Friday and embraced Peter Obi as its presidential candidate.
This was declared in a statement conveyed in Lagos by Gbadamosi, a former African Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate and past PDP senatorial candidate for Lagos East.
”After the tragic events of the #EndSARS, I had entirely lost faith, especially in the young of Nigeria, given how the senate bye- elections turned out.”
”However, Peter Obi’ s departure from the PDP and subsequent ascent to the position of the Liberation Party’ s presidential candidate, along with his wise pick of Mallam Yusuf Datti Baba- Ahmed as his running mate, have revived my hope.”
”I am 54 years old, and I have never had the honor of witnessing the kind of zeal, fervor, unity, and tenacity of purpose being displayed by adolescents of all nationalities and religious backgrounds in Nigeria over a political candidate.”
”I openly announce that I am leaving the PDP and wish the remaining members well.”
“By the same token, I hereby officially affirm my support for the Labour Party and Mr. Peter Obi, who is the party’ s presidential candidate,” Gbadamosi added.
He described how he joined the PDP in Ikorodu in 2008 and stayed a committed ally of the party, doing his might to help the party grow and thrive in Lagos State and all through Nigeria, until he chose to leave partisan politics in 2017.
