Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has portrayed himself as the father of frustrated Nigeran youths.
Obasanjo who gave himself the title while receiving veteran Nigerian singer turned activist Charles Oputa, famously known as Charly boy at his home in Abeokuta, Ogun State, stressed the requirement for a change of leadership in the country.
Charly Boy had asked the former Nigerian leader to advise the youths ahead of the 2023 general elections. The octogenarian answered: “Because you are president of frustrated Nigerian youths, I am their father.
“That we are frustrated and poor is not the fault of God, it is the choice of our leaders. And if you have to change that, change our situation, you have to change leadership. I always say, Nigeria is my own baby, the one I want to put a beautiful bead on its waist, not an individual,” he added.
Charly Boy’s visit to the former president comes a couple of days after former Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu, visited Obasanjo in Abeokuta.
While the presidential hopeful said his visit wasn’t to look for the political allegiance of Obasanjo, political analysts have however disposed of his claims saying that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer was trying to grow his political support base.
