Four governors elected on the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP) are working for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election, INFOXCLUSIVE has learnt.
It would be recalled that preceding the May 28 national convention, the leadership of the PDP rotation of presidency by throwing the contest open, regardless of the way that the main opposition party has in its constitution that presidency would be turned between the North and South.
This prepared for the rise of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 races.
Since the emergence of Atiku, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike who came next behind Atiku at the convention, had been having a running fight with the leadership of the party.
Wike, who was bitter, put his misfortune on religion, betrayal by the party leadership, particularly, the national chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, and the Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, whose unexpected choice to stand down for Atiku, he claimed, purportedly shifted the presidential primary result against him.
The River State Governor has since been hobnobbing with Tinubu which additionally prompted the new London meeting.
Wike, Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) – had met in London with Tinubu to think about cooperating.
A dependable source informed INFOXCLUSIVE that four southern governors – two from the South-east, one from the South-west, and one from the south are working for Tinubu’s emergence.
The source who pleaded not to be named said everything is presently about personal interest, adding that while one of the governors is looking for re-election, others are looking for soft-landing.
