The National Industrial Court has again adjourned the suit documented by the Federal Government, challenging the continuous strike by the university lecturers to September 19.

Recall that the court had summoned the FG and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to show up before it on Monday in Abuja over the seven-month-old strike.

In any case, at the first hearing, Justice Polycap Hamman adjourned the matter till Friday, September 16 (today), to empower the two parties to file the essential papers for the suit.

Notwithstanding, at the continued sitting on Friday, the court declared that the case is additionally adjourned till next week Monday.

The counsel to the FG, James Igwe, prior requested that the court give the suit a sped up hearing because of the urgency of the matter to enable the students to get back to school.

Igwe let the court know that since the matter was at that point in court, it would be appropriate for the strike to be canceled, pending the determination of the suit.
